Vi Peel ™

What is a Vi Peel™?

The Vi Peel™ is a chemical peel that enhances skin tone and texture. Chemical peels use a combination of various acids to help to improve overall skin health and to rejuvenate the skin.

How does a Vi Peel™ Work?

The active ingredients in the Vi Peel™ are: trichloroacetic acid (TCA) which stimulates collagen growth, Retin-A which softens fine lines and moderate wrinkles, salicylic acid which exfoliates the tissue and has anti-inflammatory properties, phenol which treats deep lines and creases, and Vitamin C which is an antioxidant that brightens the skin.  This combination of ingredients removes skin damage and stimulates collagen & elastin production in the skin resulting in skin rejuvenation.

What does a Vi Peel™ Treat?

The Vi Peel™ can treat common skin complaints including discoloration from age or sun spots, hyperpigmentation such as melasma or rosacea, large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne and scarring from acne.

How is a Vi Peel™ Performed?

The Vi Peel™ is performed in the office. First the skin is cleansed thoroughly to remove any traces of oil and dirt. Multiple passes of the solution are applied over the surface of the skin to penetrate and treat the layers of the skin. The solution is left to dry on the skin for the next four hours. The entire treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. Post procedure instructions included in an after care kit will then be reviewed with the client in detail.

Is it painful?

The Vi Peel™ is very comfortable. For most people, there is no discomfort. Some clients may feel a slight tingling or stinging sensation when the solution is applied that passes almost immediately. The treatment is so gentle that the skin around the eyes can also be treated.

Is there downtime?

Unlike many chemical peels, the Vi Peel™ has minimal downtime. Immediately after the treatment, the skin may have a yellowish or reddish appearance and be slightly swollen. The first and second day after the peel is performed, the skin will feel tighter and pigmented areas may appear darker. Around day three, the peeling will begin, usually around the mouth initially. The skin will peel for three to four days, leaving the skin refreshed and glowing.

Clients can return to work, school or other activities right after the treatment however direct sun exposure and strenuous activity should be avoided for the first few days. Makeup can be applied five hours after the peel but should be avoided during the active peeling process.

What are the risks of a ViPeel?

The Vi Peel is safe for all ages, skin types and ethnicities, including darker skin tones. Compared with other chemical peels, the Vi Peel is very well tolerated with few risks. Some side effects may include swelling, tenderness and mild redness which usually resolved after a few days. Pigmented areas may become darker (hyperpigmented) or lighter (hypopigmented) and may persist from a few days up to a few weeks.

How long do the results last?

The results from a Vi Peel will last as long as a good skin care routine is continued and sun exposure is limited. While a single Vi Peel can improve sun damaged and aging skin considerably, a series of treatments is recommended for optimal and prolonged results. The Vi Peel can also be performed a few times a year for skin maintenance.
