What is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty is the procedure used to correct misshapen or protruding ears either from development or trauma.
Who is a candidate for Otoplasty?
Individuals with protruding ears or ears that are too large, uneven or misshapen are candidates for otoplasty. Otolasty is usually performed after the age of 5.
How is the surgery of protruding ear performed?
An incision is usually made just behind the ear, in the natural fold where the ear is joined to the head. Patients can go home from the surgical center the same day.
What is the recovery like after Otoplasty?
A soft dressing is applied for a few days after which a headband is recommended over the course of the following 10-14 days. Strenuous activity is avoided for 3 weeks though children can return to school one week after surgery, and adults can return to normal activities as soon as the next day.
What is earlobe surgery?
Earlobe surgery is a procedure to improve the size and shape of the earlobe. The earlobe that has elongated with age or after use of heavy earrings can be reduced in size.
